Rhetoric introduces students to key concepts and frameworks useful for analysis of texts, events, and communication. Students will apply rhetorical frames to various ‘texts,’ e.g., Lloyd Bitzer’s theory of rhetorical situation highlighting the role of audience, purpose, and occasion, or Bakhtin’s account of dialogism, heteroglossia, and speech genres.
